a brief update.]

Greetings dear prayer partners,

I trust you all have a blessed Lord’s Day worship yesterday and may we all know God’s gracious blessing as we are now into a new week of service to Him.

It is already now the second week into the 2nd Quarter of school at CLA in Suriname! Please continue to pray for all who work there. They need the Lord’s strength and encouragement to continue on. We are so thankful for the progress in the construction. PTL for this.

Please also continue to pray for the Church in Suriname (FPC). Pray for those who attend, but especially for members to grow in the communion of saints. It is how the Lord gives the power of His Spirit to work victory in our lives. Pray also for the Lord to use the Church discipline to grant repentance and restoration, and for the Lord’s encouragement to Rev. Hamid as Pastor.

We are thankful for the students we have in both College and Seminary; please pray for the Lord to bless their studies and use it all for the furtherance of His Kingdom.

The ministry of SALT (Scriptural Advanced Leadership Training) includes:

  • Director of RITS & RIC (Reformation International Theological Seminary & Reformation International College).
  • As Dean of Studies, I work with students in College studies (especially teacher training for a Bachelor of Arts in Education Degree).
  • As Dean of Studies, I work with students in Seminary studies (especially training for ministry and eldership in the M.Div. degree program).
  • My work, together with Rev. Hamid, in Administration of CLA (Christian Liberty Academy) in Suriname. I serve as Headmaster, and he is Administrator.
  • I also serve as Elder in First Presbyterian Church in Suriname (FPC).

Greetings in the name of our ruling Lord!

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer. May we all trust in the Lord that He hears and He answers (according to His perfect eternal will).

You have been praying for the Church in Suriname (FPC), and I wanted to share what I received from Rev. Hamid this past week:

We have had this Cuban family visit twice in the last three weeks. Their (only) daughter is in K4. They have lived in Suriname for 8 years. The wife, a dentist, speaks English quite well but the husband knows very little. Since the first time they visited, she has said that they have gone to different churches for the last 8 years looking but they were so disappointed with the teachings. She said they were on the point of giving up because they were struggling with knowing they should be in church and yet the option was stay at home or go to some church and listen to “corrupted” teaching. She said they took a chance because they have never visited a reformed church, but she has been so appreciative of the teachings. They right away said that they weren’t sure what they will find so they had not planned on staying the first week. They were absent on the LD before last but were here this past LD again. They stayed for study time and even asked about bringing snacks for snack time. She even said to me afterward, “Pastor, very good preaching.” Really nice to see.

PTL and thank you for your prayer. Please also remember to pray for the Church discipline on two members; that the Lord would graciously grant repentance and restoration…in His time.

I trust you all had a blessed LD worship yesterday. Thank you for your partnership in SALT.

We are enjoying the time with Hamids and pray that this is a nice break for them. We belatedly celebrated their daughter’s graduation (it was during Covid times so not able to do that till now!). Rev. Hamid and I are enjoying the occasional rounds of golf too! Please pray their time here is a blessing for them.

The building project is going so well; we are so thankful to the Lord. We are almost 2 weeks ahead of the planned schedule! PTL!

Greetings in the name of our faithful Father in heaven,

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (Heb.10:23). May we all continue to trust and rest in His faithfulness and thank you for your faithful prayer support.

PTL that all went well in bringing the shipment down to Miami. Please pray for its timely arrival to CLA in Suriname.

We are so thankful that the demolition has gone on schedule and in the next week they will be tying the reinforcing steel bars and beginning on the foundation. The plan is that, by the time school begins in August, the foundation is completed and also the beginning of the walls for the lower level. Thank you for your prayer for this project.
