Poettcker’s Prayer Partners

January 15, 2024 by Rudy Poettcker

[This is Rev. Rudy Poettcker,
missionary with Reformation Christian Ministries (RCM), giving you a brief update.]

Greetings in the name of our ruling Lord Jesus!

I have returned to preaching from Acts. It is such a blessing and comfort to see how our Lord rules in all things, and specifically for the spread of the Gospel and the ongoing coming of His Kingdom. His rule gives purpose to SALT and all of RCM. May you also find that a great comfort.

PTL that the first week of classes went well at the school in Suriname (CLA). It began a bit “rocky” as some were away because of sickness and others were away because of a family wedding in Guyana. Thankfully by Wednesday all had returned. Please continue to pray for CLA and for all who serve the Lord there. Also, give thanks for the ongoing progress in construction.

Please also pray for the Church there (FPC). In the near future we as Elders plan to have a meeting via zoom with one of the discipline cases. I ask you to be in prayer for this, and for God’s sovereign grace to work in the heart of this member. Indeed, let us pray for the Church in general; she is under attack in ways we could not even fathom earlier. But, because of our Lord’s rule, His Truth and His purpose will prevail…and that includes through our prayers.

Sincere thanks for your partnership in SALT,

Rev. RP

Greetings in the Lord our Savior!

I’m sure that for all of us things are getting back to a bit more “normal”! It is true at SALT as well: online students are submitting their work, and today classes resume at CLA in Suriname.

Thank you for your prayer for my online work with students and thank you for your ongoing prayer for CLA (and especially the teachers & staff as they return to their callings at the school). Give thanks to the Lord for the students He sends to RCM (in the College, Seminary, and at CLA). Pray that their studies might be blessed for the furtherance of our Lord’s rule.

Please also continue to pray with thanksgiving for the construction project. It is progressing well, but it is rather difficult to show in pictures since most of the progress is inside now. But from time to time I will try to include a picture from the inside!

Deeply thankful to be serving the Lord together with you all,

Rev. RP

Greetings in the name of our God, Who is from everlasting to everlasting!

Please read Psalm 90, what a glorious Word from God as we look to 2024!

Psalm 90:11-14 11 Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath. 12 So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom. 13 Return, O LORD! How long? And have compassion on Your servants. 14 Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!

I find this a great encouragement and comfort; what we confess the Bible to say, in the Heidelberg Catechism:

28. Q. What does it benefit us to know that God has created all things and still upholds them by His providence?

A. We can be patient in adversity,[1] thankful in prosperity,[2] and with a view to the future we can have a firm confidence in our faithful God and Father that no creature shall separate us from His love;[3] for all creatures are so completely in His hand that without His will they cannot so much as move.[4]

[1] Job. 1:21, 22; Ps. 39:10; James 1:3. [2] Deut. 8:10; I Thess. 5:18.

[3] Ps. 55:22; Rom. 5:3-5; 8:38, 39. [4] Job 1:12; 2:6; Prov. 21:1; Acts 17:24-28.

A student in RITS (the Seminary) wrote this (please continue to pray for all the students):

Thanks for the wonderful theological and Biblical education. A true blessing.

In God’s mercy in Christ…Happy New Year!

Poettcker’s Prayer Partners

December 25, 2023 by Rudy Poettcker

[This is Rev. Rudy Poettcker,

Greetings in the name of our Savior!

In His name I wish you all a truly Merry Christmas!

Yesterday I preached the Word from Luke 2:34,35 (that Jesus was appointed for the fall and rising of many and His coming is for the revealing of hearts). Let us praise Him for raising us up to new life.

Thank you so much for your prayers for my safe travels. In God’s great mercy all went well and I arrived back home safely.

Rev. Hamid and I worked out a new plan regarding my trips to Suriname, so that I will go there one less time per school year. Instead of going there at the end of the Third Semester (in March), I will now go (1) End of school year in May, (2) Beginning of school year in Aug., and (3) End of First Semester in Dec. We have found a way to make this work ok for the Church as well. PTL.

Please continue to pray for the Church in Suriname (FPC). We did have a nice meal on Dec. 15th, celebrating Hamid’s anniversary and including it as the Church “Christmas meal” (see pics below). We continue much in prayer for those members under Church discipline; that the Lord might graciously grant repentance and restoration…thank you for joining in this prayer.

Pray that all who work at CLA will have a good time of “break” and be refreshed for the coming Semester which begins on Jan. 8th.

Thankful to be of service to our common Lord,

Rev. RP

Poettcker’s Prayer Partners

December 18, 2023 by Rudy Poettcker

[This is Rev. Rudy Poettcker,

Greetings, this one more time from Suriname!

It is such a blessing to have this calling here in Suriname in this part of God’s Kingdom. As I have been here I have so much treasured the prayers of God’s people. Please also pray for my safe travels. I leave, Lord willing, this Tuesday (leaving very early in the AM). Please also pray for Sharilyn’s safe travels as she will be travelling on Wednesday from Panama (was there to visit family).

We experienced a great blessing here in the Church as two young people made profession of faith and became communicant members of FPC. Please keep much in prayer for all members, and that the Lord in mercy and love would bind them close together in a common fellowship in the Spirit, and this might be a strength to each one in their daily living. I have more and more seen (from God’s Word and from experience) that the communion of saints is one way that believers receive the power of the Spirit to be faithful in their lives.

Obviously we have now concluded the First Semester at CLA and are so thankful for the Lord’s continued blessing. Pray for the teachers and staff to have a good “break” and be kind-of “recharged” to begin the Second Semester (Lord willing classes resume Jan.8).

Just a little note of praise to the Lord for how He uses CLA: A lady, who is grandmother to a former student who now has two children in Elementary, said to Rev. Hamid, “Sir, this school will always have a special place in my heart, my grandson is the man he is today because of the influence of CLA.”

May all be for the greater glory of the Lord our God!

Poettcker’s Prayer Partners

December 11, 2023 by Rudy Poettcker

[This is Rev. Rudy Poettcker,

Greetings, once again from Suriname!

I am very thankful for the time here, and so much appreciate the prayers of God’s people. Thank you to each of you for your partnership in this work of missions.

This week in the school (CLA) we will have the Semester Exams for High School. This marks the end of the First Semester. I have been busy working on teaching plans for the Second Semester! Time just seems to fly! We will have a school Christmas meal for all teachers and staff this Thursday.

This week Friday (15th) we will have a meal as Church, to celebrate Pastor & Mrs. Hamid’s anniversary (as well as having it as our “Church Christmas meal”!). Costs have sure increased for these “outings”, but we are thankful to have sufficient resources to enjoy such times of fellowship.

We continue to discuss various items that relate to the construction. By way of explanation: The upper level is all for Hamid’s residence, and the lower level has a garage, a small “work-out gym”, a storage room, and also a large room which will be used by the school for writing exams and for labs and even a ping pong table. We are thankful for the progress, but there is still much to be done!

In all, thank you so much for your prayer. We so much need God’s gracious blessings in all things and without His blessing all is empty and worthless.

Serving Him with you all,

Rev. RP
