Greetings from Florida!

Yes, I have reached home and thankful for the safe travels; and thank you for your prayers. My return was postponed a couple of days (due to mechanical problems with the plane). Those extra days actually provided time for me to recover from a rather serious cold, so that I was able to travel with less issues from it. The Lord rules in all things, even such details He turns to the good of His own. PTL!

To just encourage you to continue in prayer for the students in College and Seminary, here is what a RITS student wrote in an exegesis course:

This has been a great reminder to me that the power of preaching lies completely in the Word of God. Salvation and the effectiveness of the sermon does not lie with me. I am commanded to let Scripture interpret Scripture, use proper exegesis, avoid eisegesis, and let the text speak for itself. Doing this allows the congregation to hear God speak to them through the text.

I also just received this update on the student population at CLA, from Rev. Hamid:

We currently have 271 students enrolled, that includes 55 new students this year. We have several (I am sure close to 50) on the waiting list. Continue to have parents come in to see if they can beg their way into getting a place. Some are still being tested so that we can know their grade level. Praise the Lord!

What a great blessing this is from the Lord; that He sends so many to CLA. PTL with us.

The construction work at CLA in Suriname is continuing and going well; although in the past week or so it may seem to be going slower, it is really just a very tedious work of preparing for the pouring of the second floor (see pic below). Thank you for your prayer for this work.

Please also continue to pray for all who work at CLA, and for Rev. Hamid (now that I am not there his workload increases).

Greetings once more from Suriname!

The time has gone quickly and this week (early Tuesday AM) I will be leaving for Florida and home. I sincerely ask for your prayers for safe travel (driving and flights).

I am thankful to the Lord for the time here and what has been accomplished. It kind-of feels like we have run out of time, but then again we also know that the Lord gives time, and it is in His hands.

In the school we instituted some new practices which help the teachers to all be “on the same page” in regard to holding students to the school rules. So far it is working well, and I pray this continues. It is truly a blessing to see how the Lord sends so many students to CLA and from so many different backgrounds (see tables below). Please continue in prayer for CLA and all who work here.

In the Church we, as Elders, prayerfully minister for the honor of the Lord and the maintenance of the communion of saints. Pray for God’s grace (a) to grant repentance to those under discipline and (b) to further a sense of belonging together (over against fellowship with the “world”).

Greetings, again from Suriname!

Thank you all so much for your prayers for this ministry as I am here in Suriname.

We have had a good beginning to the school year. It seems that most of the students are very happy to be a CLA. Even the few who required a kind-of early discipline (like we all, students also see what they might be able to “get away with”!), they have responded very well to it. Of course, it helps to inform students that we have others waiting to enroll as soon as there is an opening! I am truly enjoying teaching Bible/Theology in grades 9-12. It continues to be amazing to me to have the privilege to give biblical instruction to such diverse backgrounds/religions. I assure you that your ongoing prayer, for God to bless and use CLA in the lives of so many, is so important.

This week we plan to have an Eldership meeting (Session Meeting) and appreciate your prayer for God’s direction and wisdom…for upholding His glory and the purity of the Church here.

As you can see in pictures below, the construction continues. Pray for God’s blessing on it this week.

Greetings from Suriname!

I am so thankful to the Lord for the blessings He provided in my travels. All went so well, and I even arrived half hour earlier than scheduled! Thank you all so much for your prayers.

We had a blessed Lord’s Day worship which included the Lord’s Supper, and after enjoyed a fellowship meal.

The teachers preparation time went very well on Friday. Please pray for all the teachers and staff. Facing another year can be a daunting task, but the Lord is faithful. I read Psalm 8 for our opening and we prayed for God’s glory in all the work of CLA. Pray all goes well as we begin classes today!

We have had some water shortages (very slow pressure and our tanks were empty). We even got some water delivered and are hoping that whatever has been the cause will be repaired soon. As you can imagine, going without water would be a very difficult situation for school.

The construction project is moving along on schedule. We did have to make a few adjustments in preparation for having students around. Please pray that all continues to go well.

Greetings in the Lord our God!

Oh, what a glorious and comforting truth, that the only true living God is “our God”! He is that only as we are in Christ, His Son, and our Savior and Lord. Please continue to prayerfully support the ministry of SALT, which is set up to train for leadership in His Kingdom.

This week, tomorrow (Tuesday), I will be travelling to Suriname. This includes some driving and of course flying. Please pray for God to grant safety in all.

We will be having “teacher preparation day” on Friday and classes begin on Monday (Aug.14).

I will have the blessing of sitting under the preaching of Rev. Hamid the first Sunday and after that I will be preaching. Pray for us as Eldership, as we deal with some discipline matters in the Church.

Praise the Lord for how well the construction project is going. Lord willing, we hope for continued good progress.

Greetings dear prayer partners!

Please be assured of how much your prayerful partnership is needed and appreciated.

Give thanks to the Lord for how the construction project is progressing, and also for the safe return of the Hamids to Suriname. Their flight went well, and they arrived on time, PTL. Pray for them as they now return to their various callings in Suriname.

Today we have the joy of going to Orlando airport to pick up our daughter and her family. Pray for safety in flights and driving, and also for our time together.

Today is also my 75th birthday! I mention this only to praise the Lord for His great blessings to me; that I am relatively healthy and thankful for the ongoing ministry He calls me to.
